Please see our FAQs below. For all other queries please contact the Learning Team at learning@ornc.org or 020 8269 4725.
How do I book a self-guided visit?
The Old Royal Naval College is a great place to bring your class for part of a day out in Greenwich, or for a longer visit.
We welcome self-guided visits to our site, but do ask that groups are booked in as the site can be very busy with school groups and other events.
Please book your self-guided visit by contacting the learning team on 020 8269 4725 or learning@ornc.org.
We offer a number of downloadable trails to enhance your visit or to link in to a particular topic or area of study.
Can I bring a home-educated group?
We welcome home educated groups for both self-led visits and our facilitated workshops. There are some considerations to be aware of when booking.
We can take a maximum of 20 children and 10 adults
The minimum number of pupils we can take for a workshop is 10
To guarantee a good learning experience for children, the maximum learning age range of the group can be no greater than 2 years, eg. Y3-4, Y4-5, Y5-6
There must be a nominated supervisor in attendance who is responsible for the group.
Please advise us of any special educational needs of children in the group at the time of booking.
For Health and Safety reasons only one wheelchair user can be in the Painted Hall at any one time.
Cancellation policy
Cancellations come with a cost in planning and facilitator time. If you wish to cancel, 28 days’ notice in writing to learning@ornc.org is required. Cancellations made with less than 28 days’ notice will incur a cancellation fee of £150
The minimum number of pupils we can take for a workshop is 10. If numbers fall below this on the day you will incur a fee of £150. Please notify us in advance if there is a change in your numbers.
Where can we eat lunch?
Our lunch room is available to school groups that book a facilitated session with us and will be automatically booked for you once your session is confirmed. Please let us know in advance if you will not be having lunch on site. If the weather is good please feel free to picnic in our beautiful grounds.
Is there a cloakroom?
How many adults should we bring?
All school groups visiting the site must be supervised at all times, including lunchtimes. The minimum ratios must be maintained at all times.
For all workshops
For Key Stage 1 visits a minimum ratio of 1 adult per 6 students must be maintained.
For Key Stage 2 visits a minimum ratio of 1 adult per 8 students must be maintained.
For Key Stage 3 and 4 visits a minimum ration of 1 adult per 10 students must be maintained.
What happens if we arrive late?
How do we get there?
You can find out more about getting to the Old Royal Naval College on our getting here page.
When is my visit confirmed?
Once we have received your booking request form, we will be in touch within 5 working days to arrange your booking.
We need to know the year group, how many pupils and adults will be attending, special requirements and contact details. We are unable to hold dates without this information. When we have received this information and agreed a date we will send a confirmation email.
